As the world is experiencing the effects of populist leaders gaining in popularity and power, topics such as voting rights, public engagement, and populism have become ever more pertinent. Agora’s Democracy & Governance Programme provides a platform to share ideas and discuss one common, emerging theme: in practice, what does democracy really mean to citizens and how should citizens partake in their society?
We explore what is understood by political participatory and analyse examples from different models around the world. The programme also examines case studies from various countries with regards to democratic reforms and participation-driven developments. We publish blog posts to our site and hold regular discussion groups and speaker events in London to share ideas.
